The Alexander Technique
is a gentle, hands-on
system of reeducation. Through
it, people learn how to redirect their responses to stress. At
its simplest, the Technique can provide relief
from discomfort and pain. At its most profound, it can be a
guide through self-discovery
and freedom of expression.
The Alexander Technique provides a pragmatic means whereby problems
can be addressed and solved without tensing. Its principles and
cueing instructions allow for a life-long
approach to self-care. Through a guided process of
musculoskeletal reorganization, students develop and refine
awareness of their movements
and reactions. As the quality of reactions alters, the
quality of movement shifts. Students avoid reverting
to habit. Changes take place on all levels of the Self.
